to put more fish!

Slowly the area
started to be inhabited, the newcomer residents adapted and used
the name Pass-A-Grill. Then in 1905 Pass-A-Grill got its own
Post Office. It was officially declared a town by State
Legislation in 1911 counting 21 residents and had their first
election. Then electricity came to Long Key Island (St Pete
Beach) in 1914 and finally in 1922 the first fire station of the
area and it was called Pass-A-Grill Engine Number One.

At a time, Long Key
Island had four different communities: Pass-A-Grill, Don CeSar,
Belle Vista Beach and St Petersburg Beach. Then in 1957 these
four communities decided to merge and form a town which they
named the City of St Petersburg Beach due to their proximity to
the Town of St Petersburg. But a few years down the road they
decided that they wanted to have their own identity so the
residents voted to shorten the name to St Pete Beach!
