The History of
Starlight Tower

The history of
Starlight Tower begun almost 50 years ago. It was built in 1958
and 22 years after Don Cesar. For several decades these two
buildings were the only impressive structures in the whole area.
Since then the landscape has changed somehow with new
construction appearing like mushrooms continuously that
has accelerated in resent years due to the booming housing
market and the newfound skyrocketing popularity of St Pete Beach
in general. What usually happens is that people who visited here
as tourists one year returned the following year to become
owners. What they say about the world of mouth been the best
advertisement certainly holds true because the new owners
invited here their friends from the North who subsequently also
fell in love with the locality and so on and so forth.
So although the
overall construction picture of the area has been altered since
Starlight Tower came to life, still remains today along with Don
Cesar the two noticeable landmarks and actually trademarks that
made St Pete Beach famous: One guarding the North and one
guarding the South.
Throughout his
history Starlight Tower has been in service as an upscale co-op
Association Apartment Building which is still true today.
Potential new buyers must be interviewed and approved by the
board of directors for the sale to take place.
Regarding the
construction of the building itself it is solid outside but also
inside each apartment due to the fact that materials used for
its erection were steel and concrete. Some times it can be a
little annoying if for example you want to hang a new painting
or anything on a wall you can not just put a nail, it doesn't go
through: first you have to drill a hole and then you can put
your nail and hang the item. In other words, we do not own
any cheap prefabricated walls.
Our building has been
through countless hurricanes and disastrous storms all these
years but still stands proudly tall whereas newer structures
have been demolished. Quality does count and that's what makes
our building unique.
Starlight Tower has
nine floors and a penthouse with a total of 72 apartment units,
parking lot with mixture of
private enclosed garages and open parking spaces assigned to each unit,
separate building housing the Association's office, marvelous landscaped
grounds with exotic tropical flowers and palm trees, shuffleboard area
hosting annual tournaments for the residents with winners plaque at the
lobby, an astonishing gigantic dimensions
swimming pool
an amazing beach and unlimited
beach walk!
