Happy New Year to all
Starlighters. We hope you had a good holiday season. Many thanks
to Lorn and Anne Hiller and
Mike and Arlene Kuhn for their
good work in decorating the lobby and Christmas tree. And to
Christy and Tim who did the
red/green lights on the walkways, which added to the holiday
spirit in our otherwise disheveled building.
This is
going to be an abbreviated issue of the Express for a couple of
reasons. Today work is being done on our 4th floor
walkway……laying of concrete decking.

So we are staying
inside, and out of the way of the workmen. A good chance to
catch up on desk work, reading, etc. But we aren’t able to get
out and dig up “news”……so I’ll go with what I have, gleaned from
the last Board meeting.
The first item is a reminder of
the Annual meeting of the Association, which
will take place in the lobby on Tuesday evening,
February 10 at 7 p.m. The second notice of meeting will
be mailed shortly, along with names of candidates for the Board.
We must take a moment here to thank the present Board for their
dedication to duty, above and beyond, during the rehab project.
They have spent countless hours in meetings, writing reports,
phone calls, surveys, talking to vendors, arranging parking, the
list goes on and …………………on.
In case you were wondering
about the walkway schedule, here’s the skinny from Lynn
Dopp: For 4 days and 4 nights, owners need
to plan to be out of their units for the walkway coating
application. (The contractor has verified this amount
of time.) Also, be aware of not taking
carts onto the walkways for several additional days afterward,
including wheeled luggage and grocery carts. Damage inflicted to
walkway coatings by owners will be repaired at the owner’s
expense. As of now, the installation schedule is still on
target: walkways for floors 10, 7, 6 and 5 for the 1st
week of Feb and floors 1 - 4 for the 2nd week of Feb.
The contractor has promised to verify these dates by January
19th.
Pool drain covers will be purchased and installed
per state law, as soon as they become available from the
manufacturer.

Above is a view
of the new A/C vent covers installed on the ’08 stack. All A/C
vents will be similarly covered….and what an improvement that
will be!
But……………………….(below)

Not everyone is interested in our rehab project! This paddle
surfer was out at sunrise this morning.
Snow birds are arriving daily…
-
Welcome to Mary Quinn (503);
-
Jim and Verna Murphy (405);
-
Bill and Mardy Dunn (403);
-
Eddie and Linda Ringler (501).
-
Denis and Ursula O’Connor are due here soon.
I’m
sure there others……and we are glad you are here to enjoy the
winter sunshine at Starlight Tower.
Our
mail person, Felicia is being transferred. She tells me that the
post office is moving carriers “up the beach.” Our new carrier,
“Mary”, will begin on January 31.
And
thanks to the generous person who left the oranges in the
lobby……..there’s no better beverage in the world.

A gallon of fresh-squeezed to these...
