The very First
Issue of Starlight Express Newsletter
was created by the Editor and Chief Pat
Ifft on February 29, 1992 and
since then is maintained and produced monthly by her for
21 years! All Starlighter's owe immense
gratitude to Pat in keeping them informed with all
happenings good and bad.

|| It doesn’t seem
possible that we are getting ready to celebrate the

U.S. is frigid and covered in ice, we are basking in

help from Dan Reid. That’s a lot of
lights. Bill says he loves putting up lights and its
even more fun when he gets paid for doing it!

group of Santa’s helpers collaborated on December 3 and
were rewarded with pizza for their hard work.

The St. Pete
Beach Land Parade
The St. Pete Beach Land Parade is scheduled to
begin on this Saturday, 12/14 starting at 4 p.m. Parade
begins on Gulf Blvd. at Blind Pass Road, heading up Gulf
to Corey Avenue, and turning east up Corey to Boca Ciega. There will be all kinds of
Christmas activities, with food and beverages available,
and most of the stores on Corey will be open for your
shopping pleasure. Here’s a chance to support our local
merchants and have some fun too. Things will wind down
about 8 p.m.
Candlelight Christmas Concert
St. Petersburg College Concert
Choir will present their annual Candlelight Christmas
Concert on this Friday evening at 7:30 in the
Center, just north of Fifth Avenue North on 66th Street
in St. Pete. There is no charge, although donations
are gratefully accepted.
"Special election for our
Representative to U. S. Congress"
The election is coming
up for our representative to Congress from the 13th
Congressional District from Florida. Primary is January
14, and General Election is March 11. This is a special
election to fill the seat of former Representative
C. W. Bill Young, who died October 18.
Info is in the
mail regarding the upcoming annual meeting on Thursday,
February 13. Time to seriously think about volunteering
for the Board, and forms to do so will be the packet.
||The Tuesday morning shuffle has
begun, and we are all invited to come
down and join in the fun...you don’t have to be
an expert, and if you’ve never played before
there are willing teachers to get you started.
This year play has been expanded to
Thursday mornings, as well.
Play starts around 10 a.m.
Exit ways facelift
The entrance and exit ways to Starlight are due for
a facelift very soon. The board is receiving bids for
landscaping and Board V. President Warren Weathers will
undertake refurbishing and straightening the stone
pillars. When the project is completed Starlight will
present a well-designed graceful face to passersby.
Good news for
Upham Beach renourishment
news on the beach... the preliminary schedule for Upham
Beach renourishment by Weeks Marine is June 4-19, 2014.
They’ll start in Treasure Island in May, move to
and then on down to Pass-a-Grille.

Beach Classic Race
The St. Pete
Beach Classic Race weekend is January 17, 18, 19. As in
every year, the race course passes right by Starlight on
Beach Plaza. Race coordinators are looking for
volunteers to act as race marshals, to hand out water,
and to help out in all kinds of ways in the pre-race &
